Speak Up Press, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, gives teens a voice and supports adolescent literacy. Speak Up Press’s primary project is the publication of Speak Up, the annual teen art and literary journal produced by Speak Up’s Teen Advisory Board. Speak Up gives teens a much-needed voice and provides a quality format for the original fiction, nonfiction, poetry, plays, photography, and artwork of a diverse group of young people 13-19 years old from across the country and around the world. Speak Up’s goals, like those of Speak Up Press, include building the literacy, creativity, writing, work skills, and self-esteem of young adults, giving a voice to their concerns (personal, political, and societal), making their writing and voices come alive, thus strengthening their overall educational experience.
